Almost Black

Dear Beautiful,
I like black nail polish but sometimes it's too stark of a comparison on my very pale skin. As we get farther into winter the whiter I get, though I'm never very tan even in the summer. So usually I pick out some very dark colors, that aren't black. Such as navy blue or a very deep plum but i wanted something with no shimmer of another color. My go to color is 'Black Sand' by Sally Hansen, Hard as Nails. It's a very dark gray, almost black but a few shades lighter. Though you need three coats to get it fully opaque its so worth it in the end.

Rain, Rain Go Away

Dear Beautiful,
So it's been raining in New York quite a bit lately and I don't really have rain boots. Ok well I have this pair of purple zebra rain boots that I got from Target for like $30, but I don't really like them. There too heavy and kind of really ugly. I have been dying for a pair of Hunter rain boots for like a year and a half now, today I took the plunge and bought a pair. I figured that I have loved them from a far for so long that it wouldn't be a waste of money. I absolutely love them. I just want to wear them everyday regardless if its raining or not. But it should rain Tuesday so I guess I could wait.
I went with a very classic pair, original if you may. I got plain black ones because if got them in red or pink I wouldn't wear them unless I had red or pink on, I'm oddly picky. I figured I could switch all different sock in and out of them to add a little color. For right now the socks I got are knit gray, black and white stripes. I wanted the cream fleece or cream knit ones but they didn't have them in my size, actually they had almost no socks in my size only the striped one and a pair of red. Also with the socks the 5-7 fit really well but for some reason they weren't long enough to fold over the boot. And the boots were a little too big in the 8, but way too small in the 7, the socks made them fit better. I'm also short, so the boots may come up a little below the knee on some for me there on my knee almost over. But I love them so much, definitely worth the money.

Buns Away

Hey Beautiful,
So I know I'm late on this but I just got the Goody Spin Pins and I live them. At first I was a little iffy on if they even would work and then thought it would take some playing around with. But no, they are the easiest thing to use and hold so well. Even if you do a loose bun it still holds. There's absolutely no getting used to how they work, just which way to spin the pins. I wish I had bought them sooner. So in short there amazing and worth buying.

Resolutions

Hey beautiful,
I have been so MIA and I'm going to try and fix that. So I have made a few beauty resolution's, nothing crazy, that I am going to try and get through this year.
1) Blog at least once a week.
2) Stop biting my nails.
3) Drink more water.
4) Never sleep with my make up on, even if its just mascara.
That's all I have, I figure if its a short list I'm likely to get it done.

Hair, Long Beautiful Hair

Hey beautiful,
I'm going to tell you all about my love for long hair and how I make sure it becomes long and stays healthy (aka my hair routine). Just when ever I talk about long hair I think of the hippie musical Hair and this one song called "Hair" (very original, I know) which is all about having really long hair and not wanting to cut it. So last May I cut 7 inches off my hair which made it shoulder length and i missed my long hair so much. So in order to grow it back nice and healthy I did some research. I came across all these vitamin lists to make your hair grow faster and I really didn't want to take all these vitamins, so I kept looking. There beyond the vitamin lists I found my answer.
-The Lush "New" shampoo bar, I know shampoo bar? It sounds crazy but it is amazing. So basically what it does it stimulate your scalp with mint and cinnamon. This I didn't think was so bad for you seeing as it is all natural and being used on your body apposed to taking something. I love this thing some much that I am on my 5th bar of it and this stuff doesn't go quick. It lasts me 3 months, though I was my hair every other day because its better for your hair.
-Then since the shampoo may be a little crying at times I use the Aussie Moister conditioner afterwards and then pull my hair up letting it sit for a little bit. And rinse it out.
- When I get out of the shower I let my hair towel dry for abut 10 minutes and then put in Redken Extreme Anti- snap. Which I use as a leave-in conditioner to prevent breakage and split ends. And then I use Biosilk to smooth out my hair.
- Only after that do I brush my hair with a wide tooth comb, to prevent the kind of breakage a brush would do. From there I let it dry completely. I try to never straighten my hair or use any heat, though I do daily on my bangs.
These are all the steps I take to make sure that my hair grows long and healthy.

Building the Great Wall

Hey Beautiful,
So Taylor and I may have medium sized make up collections, but it didn't start out that way. I'll tell you all about the easy and affordable way to start building up your collection with high end make up. Now the most important thing is to not go out and buy a ton of make up all at once. You can build as slowly as you feel that you need, pledge to buy one high end make up item that you would really like once a month. Also going for some of the mini gift sets and travel sizes are really great. You get a lot of different products for cheaper and that way if you don't like it you're not stuck with an expensive full sized product you feel obligated. Going to the store and trying things out will prevent any mistakes or regrets. Look at the important things when buying high end make up. It's good to go with high end eyeshadow because the colors come out better. Lipstick is a good buy to because it's usually doesn't dry out and the color is usually better too. Mascara isn't so great to buy high end, there are a lot of more affordable ones that work great, plus you're supposed to throw it out every 3 months. The biggest thing is prioritizing, build up your basics before buying that teal eyeliner or yellow eyeshadow.
I hope this helps you guys build a make up collect that you will come to love.
