October Favorites

Hey Girls,
This is the first of hopefully my monthly favorites, but we will see.

1) Neutrogena Oil-free moisture for combination skin.
This saved my skin, after I used a pretty awful face moisturizer in September. My face gets a little oily but that's something that I have recently been struggling with, so I am going to have to figure that out. Apparently everyone's skin type changes. But other than that it leaves my skin soft and prevents breakouts.

2) Almay Wake up Under eye Concealer
This replaced my Garnier under eye roller, and I love this one more. It reduces the little bit of puffyness I do get. This not only gets rid of puffyness, but also has great coverage. I have very dark under eye circles,  it's apparently an Italian thing, and this covers them completely. I wear shade 010 Light
     Get it here

3) Maybelline One by One Volum' Express Mascara
A great mascara for a simple day, I wear this to run errands quickly or look a little nicer for work. It lengthens, separates and curls amazingly. Normally I curl my eyelashes before mascara but with this I skip curling, I find it works better that way. However the wand is plastic and I don't like it that, I find its harsh on my eyelids when I try to get the base of my lashes.

4) NYC Sheer Red Lipstick
A great red to transition into fall. I have a complete review about it here.

5) Sumita Brow Base
This is actually a concealer, when I first received it in my Birchbox I was unsure of what to use it for. So I tried it on a pimple and it works great. I make an X over the pimple and then lightly rub it in. This is a creamy concealer that covers all redness and by the end of the day it's still there without being cakey. I hate anything cakey on my face.

Color Tattoo

Hey Beautiful,

Source: Temptalia
I have been dying to try the Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow in Tough as Taupe. My CVS never had them in stock, but while I was in a different one the other day they caught my eye. And finally the had Tough as Taupe. I waited all this time for this one color, just to be disappointed by it. This is a matte taupe and such a pretty color when you get it to work well. The formula is very dry, which might be attributed to its matte coloring. This is not a 'unique cream-gel texture,' it feels a bit like damp clay. This shadow is very hard to get on your eye, it tugs as you put it on. Since it tugs as you put it on the color comes out very uneven. Some parts of your eye are a beautiful taupe, but others are a light brown. If you can get the color to spread evenly it is an intense pigment just as Maybelline markets it to be.
This cream shadow cannot go without a base. Not only does it crease terribly, but it also just slides off your eye. I don't even have oily eyelids that would cause it to do that. The Color Tattoo is not a 24 hour wear without creasing or fading eyeshadow, it's more of a 2 hour wear. Though if you wear a base, such as Urban Decay Primer Potion or Benefit Stay Don't Stray, the eye shadow stays in place. That's kind of disappointing, I like to use these as my base. Personally this eyeshadow isn't even worth the $7. I would rather splurge and get more Mac Paint Pots, which are easy to use.

Haul #5 Vegas

Dear Beautiful,
I can't go  anywhere without buying some make up. It's a bit of a habit.

The nail polishes I bought at a 99¢ store. I have been wanting to get some fun colors for designs, but don't want to spend a lot of money on colors I won't wear otherwise. So I got those there.
At Walmart I got two lip balms and a notebook. Both lip balms I have been wanting to try and couldn't seem to find it anywhere else. Palmers Coco butter swivel stick and Maybelline baby lips in peppermint. The notebook is to keep topics and ideas for blogs. I have been writing in a little spiral notebook but have a love for pretty journals.
Lastly I got this Nails Inc. set at Sephora. It was on sale for $10 and might still be. I couldn't pick between the three sets and ended up going with the Wyndam collection. Along with nail stickers that we're on sale for $5. I have been wanting to try these but always felt they were a bit expensive, so the sale made it a perfect chance to try them.

Lash Attack

Dear Beautiful,
I have been using my new Lancome Hypnose Drama, everyday with another mascara. Not to say that this mascara isn't amazing on its own, I just prefer to use it in combination with another. Hypnose Drama lengthens your lashes to a beautiful length. And I do wear it alone when I'm going very simple. I do really love very dramatic eyelashes all the time. Big bold beautiful lashes, lol I think I stole that from somewhere. Alone I don't get that, so on top I use Maybelline The Colossal Volum'express, or the yellow tube. This makes you lashes look thick without clumping. Another if used by itself, makes lashes look thick but short and stubby. Together they make amazingness. Thick long lashes.
So how do I do it. Well first I curl my eyelashes. Then I put on Hypnose Drama on my first eye and while that mascara is still wet I put on Colossal Volume. For me it works best if you do the second while the first is wet, so I do each eye at a time. That's how I do it. Some people prefer to wait for the second to dry but I feel like my lashes get clumpy.

Looking into Her Smokey Eyes

Hey Beautiful,
Boys may look into your eyes all the time, that's just something they tend to do when they like you. But you want other girls to be looking too. A guy friend once told me "Girls don't get dressed up and do their make up for guys, cause were not really looking, but for other girls," I take it to truth. For me the eye catching look isn't the lime green eyeshadow or glitter, but a dynamite smokey eye. I never give myself enough time to get ready so this is a very simple quick look, that's almost fool proof.
I like to use my Mac paint pot in 'Bare Study", Stila eyeshadow in 'Coco' and Covergirl eyeshadow in 'Brown Smolder.' If you don't have these exact colors you can use a soft beige with some shimmer, a medium brown and dark brown. Oh and don't forget your primer. We want the colors to stay vibrant and crease-less all day. I like my Urban Decay Primer Potion in 'original.'
-First apply your base. Then apply the soft beige all over your lid and up to your brow bone. This will act as your base color, lid color and brow bone high light.
-Next apply the medium brown in your crease and bring it up just a bit.
-Lastly dab the dark brown in the corner. Don't blend it very far up or onto the lid. Blend just enough so there isn't a harsh line.
Once you finish this, apply black line to waterline and tight line (upper waterline) and a black mascara. (My favorite eyeliner is Urban Decay 24/7 liner and my favorite mascara is Maybelline Colossal lash.) If you want you can smudge the dark brown thinly along the bottom lash line or the black eyeliner, neither is necessary. And that's it. At first it may take 15 minutes but after your used to it, you'll be done in 5 minutes. since you did such an intense eye, keep it light on the lipstick and blush.
